Product Configurations

T-Head Ground Rod

The T-shaped upper section may provide an installation or connection point according to the project design. Its dimensions, welding arrangement and mechanical function must be confirmed before production.

Ground Rod with Welded Connection Lug

A welded side lug or flat terminal allows the grounding conductor to be attached using a bolt, cable lug or compatible clamp. Lug thickness, hole diameter and welding requirements can be customized.

Plain or Flattened-Top Ground Rod

Plain-top and flattened-terminal versions can be supplied for connection with project-specific grounding clamps or bonding conductors.

Materials and Construction

The main electrode is manufactured from solid carbon-steel rod. The lower end is formed into a point to improve penetration during installation. Depending on the model, the upper terminal may be formed directly from the rod or fabricated using welded steel components.

Welded connection areas should be inspected for continuity, dimensional accuracy, cracks and incomplete welds. Material grade, tensile properties and welding requirements must be stated on the approved drawing when they are critical to the project.

Surface Treatment

Zinc-Plated Finish

Zinc plating provides a smooth, bright metallic appearance and basic corrosion protection. It is more appropriate for controlled environments or projects that specify an electroplated coating. The coating thickness must be confirmed in the purchase specification.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Finish

Hot-dip galvanizing provides a thicker zinc coating and is generally preferred for buried or outdoor utility applications where increased corrosion protection is required. Hot-dip galvanized coating requirements may be specified according to ISO 1461, ASTM A123/A123M or another approved project standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a copper-bonded ground rod?

No. The product shown is a galvanized steel ground rod. Copper-bonded steel ground rods use a continuous copper layer and should be listed as a separate product.

What ground resistance can one rod achieve?

A fixed resistance value cannot be guaranteed without soil and installation data. Ground resistance depends on soil resistivity, moisture, rod depth, electrode spacing and the complete grounding-system design.

Can the rod be used for lightning protection?

It may be used as part of an earth-termination system when its dimensions, material, corrosion protection, connections and test performance meet the approved lightning-protection design.

Is a hot-dip galvanized version available?
