FXBW4-35/70 Composite Suspension Insulator
The FXBW4-35/70 composite suspension insulator is designed to provide electrical insulation and tensile mechanical support for conductors used on 35 kV outdoor overhead power lines. The model designation identifies a 35 kV voltage class and a specified mechanical load of 70 kN.
The insulator uses a composite long-rod construction consisting of a load-bearing fiberglass-reinforced resin core, an external polymeric insulating housing with multiple sheds, and metal end fittings. The exact housing compound, end-fitting configuration, dimensions and electrical performance must be confirmed against the approved product drawing and project specification.

Construction and Materials
The internal fiberglass-reinforced resin rod carries the tensile mechanical load of the insulator. The external polymeric housing and sheds provide electrical insulation and protect the core from outdoor environmental exposure.
Metal end fittings are mechanically connected to the load-bearing core. Their material, dimensions, connection type and corrosion-protection treatment are selected according to the approved assembly drawing and the mating line hardware.
The red shed profile shown represents the supplied product configuration. The exact polymer formulation and material test requirements must be confirmed before being included in the final technical data sheet.
Applications
The FXBW4-35/70 composite suspension insulator can be selected for:
• 35 kV overhead distribution and sub-transmission lines
• Suspension insulator assemblies
• Tension or dead-end assemblies with compatible end fittings
• Conductor-to-pole or conductor-to-tower insulation
• New line construction
• Maintenance and replacement projects
• Rural and utility power networks
Final suitability depends on the required creepage distance, pollution severity, altitude, conductor load, line configuration, end fittings and applicable utility specification.
Applicable Standards
Where specified by the purchaser and supported by the corresponding design and test documentation, the product may be manufactured and inspected with reference to applicable requirements of IEC 61109 for composite suspension and tension insulators used on overhead power lines.
A reference to IEC 61109 does not mean that every FXBW4-35/70 configuration has automatically been certified. Compliance must be confirmed using the exact product drawing, test requirements and corresponding test report.
Quality Control
Inspection and testing requirements can include:
• Dimensional inspection
• Visual inspection of housing and sheds
• End-fitting and crimping inspection
• Mechanical tensile-load testing
• Electrical withstand testing
• Galvanizing or corrosion-protection inspection
• Marking and packaging inspection
The final inspection plan and acceptance criteria are agreed according to the purchase specification and approved technical documents.
