Galvanized Flat Steel Guy Wire Pole Band for Utility Poles
The galvanized flat steel guy wire pole band is a pole-line fitting used to establish a mechanical attachment point for guy-wire and pole-support assemblies. Formed flat-steel sections fit around the external surface of a round utility pole and are secured through bolted connection lugs.
The band transfers the force from the guy attachment into the pole structure. Depending on the approved design, the guy wire may be connected through an extended lug, eye hole, shackle, clevis, thimble or another compatible fitting. The pole band itself does not directly grip the steel guy strand.
Flat steel guy bands can be manufactured for concrete, wood or steel poles. Pole diameter, band width, steel thickness, bolt spacing and attachment-point configuration are produced according to the customer’s pole dimensions and mechanical requirements.
Important: The completed guying system must be selected according to the pole design, guy-wire size, installation angle and required mechanical load. A rated strength must not be stated without an approved drawing and corresponding mechanical test report.

Product Construction
The pole band is normally fabricated from one or more formed flat-steel sections. The steel is bent to match the curvature of the pole, while the ends are formed or welded with connection lugs. Bolts pass through the corresponding lug holes to close and tighten the band around the pole.
An extended attachment lug may be incorporated into the band for connection to the guy assembly. The shape, hole diameter and orientation of this lug must match the adjoining shackle, clevis or other connection fitting.
Available Configurations
Two-Piece Split Pole Band
Two formed half-bands are assembled around the pole and connected at both sides. This structure allows installation without passing the band over the top of the pole.
Single-Point Guy Attachment Band
The band includes one extended lug or attachment plate for connecting a single guy-wire assembly.
Custom Multi-Point Pole Band
Additional lugs or connection holes can be incorporated when the approved pole design requires more than one attachment direction.
Surface Treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing is commonly specified for outdoor pole-line hardware because it provides a protective zinc coating over the fabricated steel surface. When ISO 1461 is specified, coating appearance, thickness and adhesion requirements must be verified for the finished product.
Zinc coating should be applied after forming, drilling and welding whenever required by the production specification. Damaged coating, uncoated weld areas, excessive zinc accumulation and sharp projections should be rejected or repaired according to the agreed inspection procedure.

Installation Guidance
- Measure the actual pole diameter at the specified installation height.
- Confirm that the band curvature and inside diameter match the pole.
- Inspect the band, welds, holes, bolts and zinc coating before installation.
- Position the attachment lug in the direction shown on the approved pole drawing.
- Install the corresponding band sections around the pole.

Does the pole band directly clamp the guy wire?
No. The band provides a mechanical attachment point on the pole. The guy strand is normally terminated using compatible guy fittings and connected to the band’s lug or eye.
How is the correct band diameter selected?
