Hot-Dip Galvanized Double-Bolt Pole Clamp

The hot-dip galvanized double-bolt pole clamp is a two-piece steel band designed formounting brackets, crossarm accessories and other pole-line hardware on round utility poles. Its two curved clamp halves are secured by bolt assemblies on both sides to provide balancedmechanical fastening. Pole diameter, band width, steel thickness, bolt size and galvanized
coating can be customized according to the approved project drawing.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Double-Bolt Pole Clamp

The double-bolt pole clamp is a two-piece mounting fitting used to secure brackets, support components and other pole-line hardware to round utility poles. It consists of two curved steel clamp halves with flattened mounting ears and two bolt assemblies positioned on opposite sides.

When the bolts are tightened evenly, the two clamp halves fit around the pole and create a balanced mechanical connection. This design allows the clamp to be installed without drilling through the pole when the approved structure and installation method permit.

The pole clamp can be manufactured in different diameters, widths and thicknesses to suit concrete, wooden or steel poles. Bolt size, hole diameter, curvature and attachment-hole arrangement can also be customized according to the customer’s drawing.

Important: The required pole diameter, connected equipment, installation load and bolt-tightening requirements must be confirmed before ordering. Mechanical capacity cannot be determined from the product photograph alone.

Construction

The clamp body is formed from carbon-steel strip into two matching curved sections. Each section has flattened end ears with bolt holes. The upper and lower sections are assembled around the pole and secured using two bolts, nuts and washers.

The curvature of the clamp should match the outside diameter of the pole. An incorrect radius may produce uneven contact, local deformation or insufficient fastening force.

Surface Treatment

Hot-dip galvanizing can be applied after cutting, punching and forming to provide corrosion protection for outdoor utility environments. The required coating thickness, appearance and test method should be stated in the purchase specification.

Hot-dip galvanized coating requirements may be specified with reference to ISO 1461:2022 or an applicable utility standard. Reference to a coating standard does not constitute certification unless inspection records are available for the supplied batch.

Typical Applications

  • Mounting brackets on round utility poles
  • Crossarm and pole-top accessory installation
  • Transformer-platform support assemblies
  • Distribution-line equipment supports
  • Telecommunications pole hardware
  • Street-light and cable-support brackets
  • Project-specific pole-line structures

Installation Guidance

  1. Measure the actual pole diameter at the installation position.
  2. Select a clamp with the correct internal curvature and band dimensions.
  3. Inspect the clamp halves, holes, bolts, nuts and galvanized coating.
  4. Position the two clamp halves symmetrically around the pole.
  5. Insert the bolts and install the washers and nuts.
  6. Tighten both sides gradually and evenly.
  7. Apply the tightening torque specified by the approved drawing.
  8. Verify that the connected bracket is correctly aligned.
  9. Inspect the assembly after initial loading and during scheduled maintenance.

Do not over-tighten the bolts, as excessive force may deform the clamp, damage the pole surface or overload the fasteners.

Quality Inspection

  • Steel material and thickness inspection
  • Clamp diameter and curvature inspection
  • Band width and overall dimensional inspection
  • Bolt-hole diameter and position inspection
  • Bolt, nut and washer fit inspection
  • Visual inspection for cracks, burrs and deformation
  • Galvanized coating appearance and thickness inspection
  • Mechanical loading test when specified by the project
  • Packaging, marking and quantity inspection

Reference Standards

  • IEC 61284:1997 – Overhead lines – Requirements and tests for fittings, where applicable

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the clamp diameter be customized?

Yes. The internal curvature and overall dimensions can be manufactured according to the actual pole diameter or approved project drawing.

Are the bolts included?

Bolts, nuts and washers can be supplied with the clamp. The exact fastener size, grade, coating and quantity must be confirmed in the quotation.

Can it be installed on a concrete pole?

Yes, provided that the clamp curvature, dimensions and installation load are suitable for the concrete pole. The bolts must be tightened evenly to avoid excessive local pressure.

Can this clamp support a transformer platform?

It may form part of a transformer-platform support system, but the complete structure must be verified by the project engineer. The clamp alone should not be assigned a load rating without supporting calculations or test data.

Is this product IEC certified?

Not automatically. IEC 61284 may be used as a technical reference where applicable, but certification or compliance must be supported by documentation for the exact product model.
